Artist Statements

 

"We are building collections of novelty from other dimensions."

 

~ We like to think of ourselves as digital shamans. ~

~ What we are pointing to is something that is very bizarre. ~

~ What we are pointing to is something that is not from this third dimension. ~

~ We are trying to show what we see, but it's too complex, overwhelming, alien etc. ~

~ We feel that the limits of our eyes restricts our ability to percieve this realm of energy. ~

~ We feel it is inhabited - not by ourselves, but by an objective other. ~

~ We travel alone, at night and without our bodies. ~

~ It is what we were always looking for. ~

 

 

 

Key Theoretical Points

 

1. The work contains no visual ideology.

 

2. Is a platform for the individuals imaginative growth.

 

3. Stripping the logical values of vision to dissociation.

 

4. The closer you look, the less mental clarity achieved.

 

5. Only flat shapes of colour to restrict the achievement of realism.

 

6. Not trying to control your dreaming.


7. Focusing on things not looking like things


8. Emotion in an instant using multi-point focus


9. Non-dual philosophy of removing the perspective of subject/object

 

 

The novel traits in the work are only directional markers that point to deep pockets of exploration we have found - the real beauty is past the work and in your head, where the shapes move freely in and between each other. The goal is not to make something, look like something but to reveal the process that makes you think your looking at something.

 

Purchasing - Editions of One

"Fine prints" are available - where each digital file is destoryed at the time of print. This ensures they are treated as an original, allowing the acquistion of these key visual traits. No further reproductions or editions are available, ever. This is a lifetime, moneyback, gurantee signed by both the participating gallery (The Channon Gallery), and the artist himself (Liam Key). Each work contains a signature on the back. The file size of each original print is 1.8GB and over 30,000 pixels standing 1.5metres by 2.0metres at 300 DPI (unless mentioned otherwise). There are no pixels in the final print, only perfect curves. Any work downloaded and printed from this site will contain artefacts, and major size constraints. The original file is the only one that will be printed, and afterwards it is destroyed (deleted, wiped). No further merchandising will be made from any print, with the only exception media releases, books and advertising for future shows.
